In our first year of operation, Quintral International School is excited and proud to announce our partnership with Casa Cassis, located near Lago Gutierrez, just a stone’s throw from the lake’s beautiful shoreline. The owners of Casa Cassis, Ernesto Wolf and Mariana Muller, are well-known professional chefs, gardeners, parents and community members and the contribution of their energy, kindness and wisdom to this project is truly invaluable. We are humbled to have the privilege and responsibility of starting our school on their property.
Our campus contains a modern and serene main building (originally a fine-dining restaurant), complete with a full wall of windows, solid wood tables and chairs and a professional-grade open-view kitchen, and an additional dome structure which serves as our second large classroom. Students have access to forested play areas, a chicken coop, a large organic garden and two year-around greenhouses. Among the play spaces young people can find various invitations to explore, climb, balance and create. We are located far from the most heavily trafficked areas of town, and have walking access to a rocky beach with breathtaking mountain views.
Prepared Environments
Our number one priority is to model regenerative living, and to that end our building processes and land use employ renewable energy, water conservation, sustainable building materials, energy efficiency and smart technology. We also believe in the value of creating a school environment that is clean, well-organized, smoothly-functioning and inviting in order to best set students up for success and prevent unnecessary distractions. We embrace the Danish concept of “hygge” and our cozy, welcoming environment makes school one of our students’ favorite places to be. Our school library promises to be one of the largest bilingual libraries in all of South America. All students are required to gift the school with either a book in their native language or a board game each semester that they are enrolled in the school. In this way, we will quickly grow and offer to our students and their families the incredible gifts of research, literature, history, entertainment and, as Stephen King famously said, “uniquely portable magic.”
Our industrial kitchen, matched beautifully with our vegetable garden, provides daily organic, farm-to-table sustenance to all members of our community. Students and staff are provided with hot lunch on a daily basis, occasionally prepared by our culinary arts students themselves, and always served with love.
